IronJohnLogan Posted April 23, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 23, 2017 I have a customer that has a strange Camillus blade blank (un-ground, un-heat treated) that he believes is WWII vintage. It is like it was pulled from production... it is stamped, shaped and has the fuller, but nothing else.I told him I'd post it on here and see if it has any value on its own - he wants to have it finished by a modern bladesmith, but as an odd production drop or take home from a war time factory it might have a lot more historical value as is.Please let me know anything you can! sactroop Posted April 23, 2017 Share #2 Posted April 23, 2017 So what about it makes him believe it was made at Camillus?
IronJohnLogan Posted April 23, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted April 23, 2017 It is trademarked
sactroop Posted April 23, 2017 Share #4 Posted April 23, 2017 Sorry the question from my previous post was based on your description. Looking closer at the picture you provided I can sort of make out what looks like stamping on the ricasso. Does the stamp look like this, or is it different? Camillus started applying this stamp to this style blade from 1989 to 2006. IMHO, that would most likely be a blade that was obtained during the auction of 2007. IronJohnLogan Posted April 23, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted April 23, 2017 I do not have the blade (he sent me these photos) but that does look like it... well in that case it is not WWII, can I assume zero worth?
sactroop Posted April 23, 2017 Share #6 Posted April 23, 2017 Yes, not a vintage blade. Worthless?, they ain't making anymore of them. IMHO, if the piece is put together well, someone will appreciate it to the point of what the market will bear. Hows that for a non-answer reply?
