Thor996 Posted April 23, 2017 Share #4 Posted April 23, 2017 talk bout mine field!!!!!!!!!!!! as I do have some real CSA notes, I'd say not a whole lot of value here just based on the condition of paper money. If you think helmet collectors and uniform collectors can get nuts about nuances, wade into this field a bit deeper and you'll find out fast what I am trying to tell you - from a glance they appear to be ok, but a glance is NOT the way you buy this stuff personally wouldn't give much for them. they are taped up to hell, torn and folded. There's enough contemporary fakes out there that can be difficult for the untrained eye to discern. Samuel Upham comes to mind.......... http://www.csaquotes.com/collectingcsa/introduction.html http://www.manhattancoinclub.org/newsletter/ConfederateCurrency.pdf hope this helps dave

Capt.Confederacy Posted April 23, 2017 Share #6 Posted April 23, 2017 There are quite a few repros of Confederate notes floating around. However, these might be genuine notes. Can you post some close up shots of the signatures on the front of the bills? Almost all genuine CSA notes will have live signatures on the front. (It memory serves correctly, only the CSA 50 cent note had printed signatures.) Keep in mind, though, that If these are real notes, the condition will hurt their value. lettow Posted April 23, 2017 Share #7 Posted April 23, 2017 They appear genuine. Most fakes are readily identifiable. Contemporary counterfeits are more difficult to identify but are as collectible as genuine notes. A list of known fakes by serial number can be found on the website of Crutchfields Currency. Thor996 Posted April 23, 2017 Share #8 Posted April 23, 2017 In the event they are real: I wouldn't throw a lot of money at them. You'd be better off if you want decent notes to search some reputable currency dealers...pierre fricke has an ebay site..............these, unless you get them CHEAP walk. scottiques Posted April 23, 2017 Share #9 Posted April 23, 2017 They look good, but as stated above condition is very bad. I do know the center note is common, but don't deal with these enough to know the other two. Double check on their rarity before you dismiss the grouping. Thor996 Posted April 23, 2017 Share #12 Posted April 23, 2017 I'll post more pics later If they were to be real, how much would you be ready to pay for? for what you see and the condition you see it in and the ability to buy quality ten dollar note in very fine condition for approximately 20$ [and have from Pierre] or so -and considering that one is in poor condition and I wouldn't pay a lot for the entire group. fact if it were me, even the hundreds, I'd pay no more than 20$ for the ENTIRE LOT lot but that's provided they aren't rarer type 100$s- which from the photos I can see here, I can't tell you if they are or not...but that's me and I've got a lot more experience in coins and currency than militaria so its one man's opinion. I'd walk away and get myself some quality examples-
Thor996 Posted April 23, 2017 Share #13 Posted April 23, 2017 for your consideration before you buy it, if it was one thing I learned when collecting currency and coins its ALLLLL ABOUT CONDITION, CONDITION, CONDITION...and value IS tied to it and these are simply in my opinion not what I'd plunk my money down on quickly without doing you're homework....: that tape really really reaaaly hurts the value and the long term life of those notes...I'd surf this guys sales highest to lowest and start by looking at the 'krapola' end of the spectrum and go from there. but if ya gottta gotta have it, CHEAP CHEAP http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_ssn=armynova&nma=true&item=222403024705&LH_Complete=1&orig_cvip=true&LH_Sold=1&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&si=bDwgh1GSIIImNrVirIfSYk2J4II%253D&_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=pf+21&_sop=16 http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw=100&_ssn=armynova&_sop=16&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.X41.TRS0&_nkw=41&_sacat=0 http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw=100&_ssn=armynova&_sop=16&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC2.A0.H0.X40.TRS1&_nkw=40&_sacat=

gwb123 Posted April 23, 2017 Share #23 Posted April 23, 2017 What ever those things are on the back, they are destroying the bills. Most likely they used an adhesive that is full of acid, which ages and destroys paper. If you do acquire these, you need to look at how to get those off and even how to neutralize the acid.
