Moonlight Gecko Posted April 22, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 22, 2017 I was pretty happy to find this. From what I have seen online, I think this is a 2nd pattern jacket? Can someone please help with the name? Does anyone know if he was actually a Paramarine?

carbinephalen Posted April 23, 2017 Share #5 Posted April 23, 2017 He was WIA from Pennsylvania. Served into the late 1950s. Looks like he entered in 1940. (All of this was on Ancestry by the way)

Moonlight Gecko Posted April 24, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted April 24, 2017 Thank you, carbinephalen for the info! Very interesting. I wonder how and when he got a paramarine jacket?
doyler Posted April 24, 2017 Share #8 Posted April 24, 2017 Once the Para Marines and Raiders disbanded the clothing was no more than mere issue stock and ran through the system. Also things were "aquired" quite often by trade or other means.I knew a ParaMarine and he was quite the deal maker. He ended up even with a set of Army two buckle boots and he prefered them over the boon dockers and leggings anyday he told me.I know a Special Forces vet who stated in 1968 his camos were P44 Marine ones.He described the large square "map pockets" and USMC buttons.Had a P44 shirt onece to a Navy vet who served on a River Boat in Viet Nam. You will even find various patterns issued out in the 50s and early 60s to Recon Marines.Even in the 50s era Marine guide books you see pictires of P44 camo suits worn. Also heard there was a large quantity of USMC camo given to the Bay of Pigs Forces. Moonlight Gecko Posted April 24, 2017 Author Share #9 Posted April 24, 2017 Thanks for your insight Doyler. I'm sure there were a lot of marines good at "acquiring" things.
