38Driver Posted April 22, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 22, 2017 I've had an original 430th FS, 474th FG Patch for a while. No background on it's origins other than it came out of an estate in Northern Minnesota. Haven't tracked a 430th pilot that way. Anyway, I was always tempted to have it sewn on to an original B-10. I suppose that's a sin in some ways, but it seem the best way to display it. I hesitated though as I couldn't find a photo of anyone from the 30th with the patch on a B-10. That changed recently as a photo appeared in the 474th Group on Facebook of Lt. Alfred Ables who was KIA, shot down by flak in early 45. When I saw that image I was convinced it would be a good way to remember him and display the jacket. So here it is. It's on my second "pilot" so I now have my ETO pilot essentially complete and my MTO Bombardier complete. Good fun working away on them.
