He was with a Mortar Squad 81mm. in D company first Bn, 1st marine Division. WIA Aug 23, 1942 by the Vicinity of the Tenaru River. Heavy Gun fire,They crossed the river to counter attack the enemy. The fighting lasted all day , But supported by a few light tanks .The Marines wiped out nearly ever member of Colonel Ichiki's Detachment. He was wounded during this fighting.Must have been a terrible fight for both sides. After his recovery,He ended up at the battle of Cape Gloucester, Than ended up at Peleliu and survived the hole battle not getting wounded again. I do not have his file . He was from Pennsylvania, Town Hyde Park. First Division early Alpha's are hard to find in combat,and WIA. What a heck of a marine to have made it through all those battles.
