The Iron Brigade Posted April 21, 2017 Share #26 Posted April 21, 2017 Some ARVN Ranger units in II Corps wore tigerstripe painted helmets. They also wore cloth tigerstripe helmet covers. Privately taken photos exist showing such helmets being worn.
anton67 Posted April 29, 2017 Author Share #27 Posted April 29, 2017 So are you saying this one could be legit?
VMI88 Posted April 29, 2017 Share #28 Posted April 29, 2017 I once had a Ranger advisor show me the ARVN Ranger helmet he wore in Vietnam. It had a beautiful tiger stripe pattern on both the helmet and liner along with the usual design on the front. This was before the days of digital cameras so I don't have pictures. And no, he had no interest in selling the helmet! But tiger stripe helmets were definitely worn.
anton67 Posted April 29, 2017 Author Share #29 Posted April 29, 2017 Did it look like this one? How can we really tell whether it's authentic?
ArchangelDM Posted May 1, 2017 Share #30 Posted May 1, 2017 I really don't see any wear to the helmet whatsoever. No wear on the rim, or on the top where they rested it. The ARVN units where In the thick of it , day In day out Alongside the US troops , this helmet hasn't seen a day of service by the looks of it.
