tony75 Posted April 17, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 17, 2017 Hello What are your thoughts on this blanket? It measures about 63x74 inches. The color of the blanket seems more likely confederate or did both sides just use whatever they could? Thank you for your help Tony

AustinO Posted April 17, 2017 Share #5 Posted April 17, 2017 It's not a US contact blanket (so not Union or state militia as it would be marked), and without substantial provenance I wouldn't consider it Confederate either. Though both sides carried brown blankets during the war, almost all martial blankets had a single stripe on each end. You can see a defined rectangular edge, and going off that I would consider it a mid to late 19th Century coverlet.
