hello-

any assistance identifying (this) possible HF wartime armband brassard would be greatly

appreciated.

has all appearances of circa WW2 mfgr.

-patriotic red/wht/blue colors

-double ply construction

-fully machine embr'd center blue star, flat cut edged. has

scrunched 'HC' letters in white (center)

-ribbed cotton twill red/white armband....has white silk (possible rayon....but i think silk)...

ply full-lining backing.

-12.5" x 4" standard cloth armband dimensions....

-does not glow under the UV blacklight

-overall very well constructed.....

i know, especially with the on-set of WW2, several obscure grass roots hyper-patriotic

organizations sprung-up like weeds.....most short-lived, and most regional to a

specific area of the US. each of these civilian para-military type orgs had their own

unif. insig. regalia....many (today) consigned to the 'what is it?' bin.

i believe Jill Holcomb Smith's Bender books DRESSED FOR DUTY vol 1&2 addressed

this HF phenomenon ....however unfortunately, i don't have those reference books to

attempt a 'clue' on this one.

muchas gracias muchachos!

The 1944 movie Hollywood Canteen was recently on the TCM channel.

Paul

Salome, AZ

I ran across it on TCM also. You can see the HC star on the aprons that were worn in the movie. This is cropped from a still from the movie.
