M1941 Mermite Insert

I recently picked up two S.M. CO 1943 dated 1.75 gallon M1941 mermite inserts. As they are in fair condition, with decent rust issues; I am planning on having them stripped and professionally retinned. I am looking for one more S.M. CO 1943 dated tinned steel insert in order to complete the set. Other than eBay and antique stores/craigslist, are there any known sellers who sell these inserts?

On a side note, these two inserts had the exterior painted OD green. The paint job appears to have been done rather well, not a quick spray of OD (handles and hinges completely painted, no runs in the paint, etc). I have not ever seen any other inserts that were painted.. Any ideas if this was an odd factory version or if it was simply painted "in the field" or post war?

Thanks!

I don't think paint and food mix very well. Likely done after it left service. These are hard to find on the loose!

I've scene nothing in any my QM mess research that indicated any painting of mermite insetrts or any food serving items minus the M-1937 field range. Inserts I've viewed or owned were aluminum or tin plated. Like Brian stated, not a good mix. Retinning is the best option.

Found a complete can( minus the large rubber seal) and 3 aluminum inserts@ Mt Dora flea market a few weeks ago, problem was the dealer wanted $500.00 for it!!!!!!! Gee, bought one years ago for $10.00, found inserts at shows. Sold off all the big heavy stuff about 10 years ago.
