twining540 Posted April 10, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2017 Visor cap and sword hanger belonging to Marine Corps Major Breen Glynn Lansford. This is not my area of collecting, but when your mom comes back from Florida with it for you, its kind of hard to say no to this! Once again my mom out does herself. I don't no much about the time period. The visor cap has bullion leaves and acorns, and the visor itself appears to be felt. The sword hanger is unmarked, and the EGA is a screwback marked with a HH, sterling, and another mark on the anchor I cannot make out. I haven't done much research on Major Lansford as of yet. Any idea on the time period?

twining540 Posted April 10, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted April 10, 2017 Just found his obituary. He saw service with the navy as a pharmacist mate aboard the Arkansas, was accepted into the V5 program, took his commission with the USMC, served as a fighter pilot in the pacific, did two tours in Korea including the Chosin Reservoir, and retired in 1961 as head of the surveillance and reconnaissance section. http://www.timesfreepress.com/obits/2010/sep/22/breen-lanesford/5710/
