gomorgan Posted April 3, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 3, 2017 I bought some odds & ends a week ago, and now going through the loose rounds, have a stripper of orange tip which I know is tracer, but have a stripper of LC 70's dated rounds with a blue tip. I was told this might be Armor Piercing incendiary ? Is this stuff rare, because I never remember seeing any blue tip rounds through a lot of years of service around NATO rounds. Taber10 Posted April 4, 2017 Share #2 Posted April 4, 2017 I'm just guessing here, but perhaps someone reloaded these 7.62 X 51 rounds with .30 Incendiary M1 "blue tip" bullets. Do you see any indications such as nickel primers, missing primer seals, uncrimped bullets, etc. that would indicate reloads? I also have some experience with this round and cannot remember any incendiary rounds.
Cololab Posted April 4, 2017 Share #3 Posted April 4, 2017 Sometime in the distant past I came across a fellow who had a few rounds of blue tip 7.62 X 51. I don't recall the specific headstamps, but they were factory and not reloads. The guy presented these as AP rounds despite the unusual blue and not black tips. gomorgan Posted April 4, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted April 4, 2017 These rounds don't appear to me to be reloads, are in a normal 5 rd. stripper clip marked with "A", the brass base have LC 75 and NATO circle with cross. Thanks for your thoughts...George
