mikedon Posted March 31, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 31, 2017 I aquired a chrome plated PAL Mark 2 US Navy RH-37 knife a few years ago. I bought it mainly for the nice PAL BLADE CO. sheath that it came in but was wondering if anyone else has run across one or knows anything about it. I have not seen another one since and don't remember ever reading anything about one. I know there are chrome plated Camillus guard marked USMC Mark 2's out there, (that I don't have an example of). Pops369 Posted April 1, 2017 Share #4 Posted April 1, 2017 Sheath is fantastic. Do you think it is post war? Almost seems impossible since the handle looks untouched.
schmooser Posted April 1, 2017 Share #5 Posted April 1, 2017 Super nice example regardless of dating.
Vanski Posted April 30, 2017 Share #6 Posted April 30, 2017 I believe the chrome plating of Mark 2's is a post war endeavor as a sales tactic by surplus buyers to curry interest.
Blacksmith Posted April 30, 2017 Share #7 Posted April 30, 2017 Hoping to be educated here, but I don't recall ever seeing a MKII marked "U.S. NAVY". Have only seen "USN" to denote that branch of issue.
sactroop Posted April 30, 2017 Share #8 Posted April 30, 2017 Your correct in as far as most Navy contract 1219C2 pattern knives are marked with U.S.N. . However PAL 37's marked U.S. NAVY are also correct.
Misfit 45 Posted April 30, 2017 Share #9 Posted April 30, 2017 Was the Pal RH 37, as this is marked, considered a MK2 ? Marv
Jumpin Jack Posted April 30, 2017 Share #10 Posted April 30, 2017 I have this identical knife in my collection. I also was attracted to this piece because of the scabbard. In my opinion, I don't think this would be classed as a MK 2, but rather a distictive USN fighting knife. Jack
