A Silver Star winner, documented on the infantryozark.blogspot.com site. Not sure what the box was originally intended for, but whomever created this must have been a close friend. I have not been able to identify the BOS pin. Might not be US. Buried at Margraten. RIP soldier. Tec Sergeant Robert L. Burgess. † KIA †HQ 2nd Battalion. 407th Infantry Regiment.Near Ehra skillfully led his antitank platoon to capture and destroy a reconnaissance element of a German armored task force. They had specific personal effects boxes, but this was something that it appears to be locally made, and perhaps not returned to his NOK (if it ever was) until after his unit returned from the war.
