Bob - I'd love to see other items show up from this guy.....

Tough name to research since the last name is a very common first name.......

I've been searching for any information on this aviator for years. The unusual last name has made it difficult.....I can't thank you enough!

Can I ask what the "AUS" means in this context?

Finding the early uniforms with color direct embroidered insignia is not easy, but they are out there. Here's a couple of examples I once owned.

AUS = Army of the United States. Another way to say "Regular Army".

Thanks...I had a feeling this was the meaning.

Gil,

I don't think the original post jacket is as early as some of those, but I can't find other color, direct embroidery jungle jackets.....many were recycled (as we all know).

Thanks for showing those uniforms!

RA = Regular Army

AUS is the non-Regular Army, US Army Reserve (USAR or AR), or National Guard (NG). An AUS officer could be integrated into the Regular Army.

The source of an officer's commission could be RA, AUS, AR or NG.

For enlisted men during the Vietnam War, we were RA (Regular Army), US (Draftees), ER (Reserve), or NG (National Guard).
