Screamingeagles101 Posted March 23, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 23, 2017 Just got this one today. This Seabee fought in the South Pacific with the 9 Naval construction battalion and it looks like the 76th Naval beach battalion. Can someone help me understand Box 24. Not sure what all the terms mean. The grouping consists of pictures, Certificates, newspaper articles, and the centerpiece being his theater made watch / bracelet. It's my understanding the Seabees made these out of downed Japanese planes. This is the first one I've seen with a watch on it. The watch is an Empire. His name is engraved in the watch along with some cool drawings of what what looks to be a tropical island. I'm not sure what the value of this grouping is, if anyone would like to give me a ball park estimate, that would be great also. If anyone can did up any more info on him, that would be great! I would love to know exactly where he was in the South Pacific and what ship he was on. I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170323/7ab4bcf450afc4e1c83f08618ba5f9c7.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170323/bb4f245c457a224328b60f0ee1c27ecb.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170323/7082ce6e6d2deb3fc5d517fd1b4a75f0.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170323/567ba46c16b91fafd167358b04ed774d.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Screamingeagles101 Posted March 23, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted March 23, 2017 Also, does anyone know anything about the watch itself? Was it issued or civilian? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BROBS Posted March 23, 2017 Share #4 Posted March 23, 2017 watch is civilian with band added.. what's odd is the USN logo appears to be later than WW2. may have been given as a gift postwar or at least the band? though could be WW2 era. as for value not sure.. but not a ton with what you've got there. Maybe $50 max. -Brian

BROBS Posted March 24, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 24, 2017 The logo postwar went to a straight USN though since this wasn't official it's certainly possible that sweetheart items wouldn't have had the correct fouled "N". (in other words the USN was arched)
