Any comments on this one? Seems to me there should be a maker and size stamp on the inside.

Item # 282398540059; plenty of photos.

I believe this to be a reproduction. My word cannot be final as I've never seen an original that I'm aware of. It is constructed in the identical manner of the SPR vests with original M28 haversack web parts. Does anyone else remember the early 2000's when you could go to a surplus store and find a Gaylord box full of M10/M28 haversacks with all the straps removed? This is where they went.

I.B., thanks for your input. I've seen a few of these (very few), but this one I'm not sure about, especially with the knowledge that there are repops out there.

It's an aged repro,

One of the "tells" for the SPR era repros (I have one from spr by the way) is that the lower pocket flaps cover over the slits below the eyelets

The intention of the designers of the original vests was that you could put 1910 hooks (canteens and the like) through the slit and back through the eyelets

the repros however covered the slit making this impossible

The easiest red flag to spot on repros is they all use sheet metal grommets (like this one) instead of the specified rolled rim grommets.

I seen a guy wearing an original as fashion at the flea market last week.

It was great to see in person.

O-Are you sure it was original?

There are two shops in Kyoto that have been buying the better made copies and aging them to sell as fashion. There was a fashion person at Inspiration wearing one also.

So far between the two shops they have aged about 200 pieces.

They are not doing anything bad as they tell their customers they are remakes, and the buyers just like to wear them.
