Costa,

That looks more like a training marking to me than 1st armored. There are a few on here in red, blue, green and yellow. Also looking at those pics im not even 100% sure its a legit marking at all. Looks very clean.

I’m almost positive I have seen the same helmet (or same markings) at Warpath in Fayetteville, NC. I have been trying to find a pic, but no luck yet.

I remember seeing one with the triangle right as you walk into his store on the right. The picture is another one he has, but the symbol is square. Might be a good place to start. I also remember that both of the ones Ed had were clean looking. Nice paint and in good overall condition, but 100% legit.

I don't think the helmet is related to the 1st Armored Division but I don't know what it does represent. There are a bunch of liners with various colored triangles & alpha-numerics in the "Unsung Hero" liner thread. Here's a few. My liner with the name "Stota" belonged to a tank mechanic with a training regiment at Fort Knox. It looks like there was some kind of logic to these markings which may have included the wearer's individual service branch colors.

So is there any concensus on whether this helmet is good or not? It just popped up for sale locally and ive just contacted the seller.

Still don't think its 1st armored. And its very clean, but it if it was used for instruction or state side it could stay that clean. If close maybe ask for an in hand inspection of you really are interested. But for me for the possibility of what it is, I'd probably is I'd pass.

I really think you all should call Ed Hicks. I am really confident he has one just like it. He also knows the background. I know I'm new on USMF, but it worth a shot.
