ParanormalTrooper Posted March 20, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 20, 2017 Hello! I'm thinking of driving out to Western Nebraska and visiting some of the WWII era POW camps this summer. Has anyone here ever gone to one? All thats left of most of em are the water towers, right? Still would be cool to go, maybe score a medal detecting permission. gwb123 Posted March 21, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 21, 2017 I haven't been yet, but do you have a copy of this book? Nebraska POW Camps: A History of World War II Prisoners in the Heartlandhttps://www.amazon.com/Nebraska-POW-Camps-Prisoners-Heartland/dp/162619419X Some of them are closer than you think as I recall. 36-tex Posted March 23, 2017 Share #3 Posted March 23, 2017 I have visited the places of former POW camps at Atlanta (outside Holdrege) and Fort Robinson. There are still the foundations of the buildings at Fort Robinson. There were several sub-camps, but those are all gone I believe. If you expand your adventure to include air fields and ammo facilities, then you can see period hangers and storage facilities, which are cool IMHO.
