KurtA Posted March 18, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 18, 2017 Found this at the local antique mall this morning. Unusual variation with wavy weave and very thin border.

Siamundo Posted March 23, 2017 Share #3 Posted March 23, 2017 I believe this is a fully embroidered on wool example. If you look closely at the outer edges can you tell if the base material is wool? Here is one I have with a little more more of the base material exposed and it is definitely wool and not twill or cloth. I have seen at least 4 example of different WW II US Marine Corps patches that are fully embroidered on wool, although the 13th defense Battalion is the only one I have seen that has the very distinctive zig-zag pattern embroidery. Teamski Posted March 23, 2017 Share #5 Posted March 23, 2017 This falls in with some other USMC patches. Unusual, but not unique. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/77051-usmc-londonderry-patch/ -Ski
