Bob Hudson Posted March 18, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 18, 2017 Got this Marine Corps seabag from the family: this Marine served from 1927 to 1953: was on land in China in the 1920's and late 30's and spent other tours with Marine detatchments on ships in Asia, the Pacific and the Atlantic. He was at many Marine Barracks between sea and China duty and spent many, many years as a private or PFC until WWII came along and he a lot of other true Old Corps Marine shot up in the ranks like they'd never imagined. He was with the 24th Marines in the Pacific for their campaigns, and stayed in the Pacific well into the occupation period after the end of the war. He was H&S Co FMF Pacific during the Korean War (would that FMF posting have been in Japan?). There's another name on the seabag: I'll get to him in a moment. Bob Hudson Posted March 18, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted March 18, 2017 The other name has to be from a Marine who served before this China vet: a search of the USMC Muster Rolls turned up one candidate with the appropriate last name, first initial and time frame, and with a reason his seabag didn't stay with him: a Marine who enlisted in 1924 and deserted in 1925:
Bob Hudson Posted March 18, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted March 18, 2017 Does anyone know something about this style of seabag? It larger than what we normally see and its hardware is quite different from the typical grommets:
