I found this at yard sale today. Man did not remember where he got it. I have not seen one exactly like it. Is it US military? If so when and approx value? It is too new for me but items so hard to find around here I've started buying all if seems reasonable. There seems to be a black stamped marking on back but I can't read it. Due to snap I did not think it is a work belt. The brass is very dark with age. Richard

On my example the edges of the buckle are bent over and snap over the white metal wire-like ends on the web belt. But it does look like your USMC example has the wide brass keepers. More comments or examples appreciated. Richard

Here is photo that explains the previous post more clearly. This buckle can be easily completely removed. Help Richard

Thank you I have posted in FS section and I guessed at a value but if as identified it can not be common. Richard

My grandfather was in the Korean war and he brought back one of these. The one he brought back is nearly identical to this, and said he paid an old Korean guy two packs of cigarettes for it! He was not an MP though, so I'm not sure what he used it for.
