River Patrol Division 513 Shirt

I have this nice, well used River Patrol Division 513 shirt ID'd to a CPO Cole with a nice Japanese made patch, but also a missing patrol officer star (you can see the ghost above the patch). My main concern however is the huge blotch of glue from what I'd assume to be a post war iron on veterans patch and a POW/MIA patch that's currently on the uniform. So my question is, what's the best way, if any, to remove the glue and the patch? Is a hair dryer the best route to take?

Looking forward to any answers, and all comments on the shirt are welcome.

There are several good products on the market, you can usually find them at Wal-Mart in the paint department, one is Goof-Off and another is Opps. They both work pretty well but test them on a small inconspicuous part of the shirt first as they sometimes effect the dye. I am sure they will make the spot look better but I don't think anything will completely remove it. Before you try anything else try soaking the shirt in warm water the glue may be water soluble and that will remove it but things usually aren't that easy.

Thanks for the tips! I think I'll try out the goof-off. I ended up getting the POW/MIA patch off pretty easily with a hair dryer, but I certainly don't think that'll work for the huge blotch above the navy tape. Here's the result of the patch. It looks like at one time there was a NAG patch there (earlier assignment?). Also, some of the other insignia for reference:

interesting collar patches! I've never seen eagle and chevron patches worn on the collar of CPO shirts. Always anchors. Additionally, they are facing the wrong way. Eagles worn as collar devices by PO3, to PO1 always are to face forward.

Interesting shirt and really nice Japanese 513 Division patch....too bad about the glue stains....I've tried in the past and I can't get them to resolve.
