oldabewla Posted March 14, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2017 I had to have this one! A WWII unissued burlap sandbag that came from a WWII Gi's foot locker stash that some antique dealer had broken up the stuff and this was one of the items up for sale out of it. The bag is Dye OD green and has been mildew proofed also as seen in the photos there is spots were the dye did not penetrate the bag and is brown. The only reason I can think of why it came home with a GI is that he had it? for making a helmet cover? The mildew proof is very strong smelling and I wouldn't want to use it as a storage bag and it has never been used as one. I read that these types burlap bags were used from WWII to Vietnam but also I only could find very little information on them as well. I notice that the reenactors use the reproduction brown and they are not correct for the color
