sactroop Posted March 6, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 6, 2017 Not WW2. IMHO, probably post 1956 production, although I'm not 100% sure about the red spacers. Navy spec called for black or brown spacers, but there maybe a twist to that. Any numbers stamped to the blade?
SKIPH Posted March 6, 2017 Share #3 Posted March 6, 2017 Costa- These were pilot survival knives, 50s vintage. Not sure about the red spacers either. It's a nice one, with correct sheath. SKIP

sactroop Posted March 7, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 7, 2017 The sheath doesn't look right to me. The bevel cut is not what I'm used to seeing on the issued sheaths. The notch on the front of the sheath pocket is to accommodate examples of this knife with the M3 type guard. These sheaths were packaged with both bent and straight guard versions of this knife. The notch should be 1/2 inch in and down from the corner.
sactroop Posted March 7, 2017 Share #7 Posted March 7, 2017 Here's the drawing for the knife. Might be able to compare measurements. Can't tell from your picture, but does the guard measure 2 3/16 long and 1/8th thick?
