Picked up a very rare left side to an EGA set I have been looking to match for some time at the 2017 Show of Shows. The globe is a slight bit larger than the right side, and the anchors vary some, but in these one-of-a-kind and intricately hand made pieces by Breuninger, it's about as close to a match you can get. Breuninger are considered the epitome of the early crafted jeweler made pre-1900 devices. They display unique eagles, with finely crafted details and are attached by a silver prong to the rear. I have never before seen another set of Breuninger officer collar insignia.

Nice addition to the collection sir! I (having never been to SoS) was wondering how many smaller items like insignia show up there.. I imagine most of it to be gear and uniforms... I need to get there one of these days!

As we know, the odds of matching a pair of these early-particularly jeweler made- emblems are miniscule. I was lucky enough to match an early bird once myself, and never thought it would happen. This match I know has come after several years on the hunt...congratulations, quite a stunning set now. Your wallet must have been out before you reached the dealers table!

Brig,

This and a Breuninger hat device had actually been seen by quite a few before me, I almost walked away thinking I had this one side already. I couldn't remember which side was needed and I wasn't carrying photos of my singles. I figured for the price and how rare they are, I'd take a chance. Figured I could always get my money back. It was a few days later before I matched them up and was quite pleased once I did.

Think I have a loose anchor of this type. Off galavanting the globe at the moment so will be awhile before I can check. Glad good ones are still popping up
