Unknown Japanese made patch, maybe Navy VP-814?

Just curious if anyone might recognize this patch as being a military patch or not. It appears to be to older Japanese made patch about the same size as squadron patches from the 1960's. If you look closely at the bottom edge it appears there was a tab or scroll there at one time that has been cut off. Obviously the patch is connected to the state of Minnesota based on the yellow map image. For that reason I was thinking this might be a variation of Navy Squadron VP-814. but it is not at all like the design I am familiar with. There could have other squadrons based in Minnesota, but if so I do not know about them. Thanks for any help.

Here is an example of the more common VP-814 patch. As you can see, both incorporate a Minnesota map outline into the design.

I started to research patrol squadrons with no success. Then tried attack squadrons associated with

NAS Minneapolis and NAS Twin Cities. This led me to the Skyhawk Association website with the proper

identification. Good idea to include the State of Minnesota on the patch. The eagle kind of reminded

me of the VP-1 Screaming Eagles patch.

Thank you for search tips. I'll admit I was searching for this with blinders on. With the eagle swooping down over the water I just knew it had to be a patrol squadron :) You are right, the eagle does resemble VP-1
