northcoastaero Posted February 28, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 28, 2017 Received them. Here are a couple of links on VT-5. It appears that the squadron flew the T-34B at one time. I will take a look through some of my reference materials for additional information. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VT-5-TRARON-FIVE-US-NAVY-USMC-AVIATOR-Training-Squadron-Jacket-Patch-/162405979394?hash=item25d0269502:g:dwQAAOxydlFS0HcJ http://www.ebay.com/itm/16x24-Poster-T-34B-Mentor-Aircraft-From-Training-Squadron-5-Vt-5-1976-/292017237660?hash=item43fd956e9c:g:H40AAOSwEjFXfiuj
CUBUSMC Posted March 1, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 1, 2017 Gerrad, Yes the patch is authentic. It is actually a Navy Training Squadron. Many Marines have probably worn it, however, since Marine go through Navy flight training and earn Naval Aviator Wings. I believe that Traron 5 was the squadron that taught students how to land on the carrier in the 60's and 70's. Traron 5 is gone now as I believe this feat is accomplished by the individual jet training squadrons. Semper Fi - Jeff
