M1A1 30 cal ammo box

It was repacked at the end of WWII. The Des Moines Ordnance Plant closed down in 1945. I also checked your lot number in my SB 9 AMM 4 (War Department Supply Bulletin) printed in 1946, and the last repacked belted lot number recorded for Des Moines was 86869. Nice box with great markings, and rarer than the M1 box.

I was hoping in was WWII - so I took a chance

 

do you still have that M1A1 with the A1 stamped?

I have the exact same box with identical markings except mine has M1 stamped and the A1 added next to it in black stencil.  The lot number is DMB 86871.
