nicolas75 Posted February 24, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 24, 2017 Hello Any red flag on this US Navy helmet ? Is the color matching a color paint shade for a 1943-1944 use ? Thanks

ghengus Posted February 24, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 24, 2017 Looks like a nice helmet. Have had a few fixed bales over the years that had this same dark blue color. Congrats.
Cololab Posted February 24, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 24, 2017 It looks good to me also. The paint looks to me like it could be the same shade of blue as was used on aircraft, and I think I've seen this shade used on the gun crew talker's helmets. As others more knowledgeable have stated, these were painted with whatever color shades were available.
tarheeltim Posted February 24, 2017 Share #6 Posted February 24, 2017 The liner webbing and sweatband look awfully fresh. The wear on them doesn't appear to be consistent with the wear on the helmet and helmet chin straps. Perhaps the liner is not original to the helmet. Just a thought. king802 Posted February 24, 2017 Share #7 Posted February 24, 2017 For $119 I'd be more than happy with it. You couldn't buy a repro for that. Rich
Sgt. BARney Posted February 24, 2017 Share #8 Posted February 24, 2017 Always interesting to see some good solid helmets in something other than green!

nicolas75 Posted February 24, 2017 Author Share #12 Posted February 24, 2017 Thanks all for your answer I won it for 119, which is a real steal ... It will go along with a mannequin set portraying a Destroyer mess cook at his 40mm battle station in front of Omaha beach All the best
BOLO Posted February 24, 2017 Share #13 Posted February 24, 2017 it looks similar to this WW2 Navy fixed bail , but this one shows more fading from age.
BROBS Posted February 24, 2017 Share #14 Posted February 24, 2017 I have a named one to a nozzleman from WW2 that is a similar shade as well. I will try to post tonight. -Brian Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
