bluehawk2013 Posted February 24, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 24, 2017 I will post pics and more info as I get things processed about soldiers who were with my dad in the 34th Infantry Regiment in the Philippines during and Japan post WW II. The two pics here are when he was in basic training and later as he "got out of it for a while" (in his words) in the Philippines. The mortar guys are unidentified but still part of the regiment. Hope to hear from others who were or have items from the34th Infantry Regiment from this period. These guys were in the 1st BN 34th Inf Reg 24th INF DIV. bluehawk2013 Posted February 24, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted February 24, 2017 WOW! I guess I just thought they were some kind of special issue boot for US soldiers. It makes more sense what 268th said about Japanese boots. I still have them as part of his WW II items. I have another pic that was taken that same day where he is wearing what looks like the low-quarters shows. I do recall the bottom soles of the boots are like a car tire tread pattern. No buckles j I don't have them with me my right now but are at my second home. No buckles just straight leather slip on boots. I will post close up pics in the future when I get back there. bluehawk2013 Posted February 25, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted February 25, 2017 Here is a pic I found online that looks just like what I believe the boot sole to look like. If the ones I now have that he acquired are pilot boots that would have been a great story on how he got them.
