JMF Posted February 22, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2017 Attaching pictures of a 1902 sword. What era? Maker? I presume it was retailed by Hirsch.

Tim Posted February 24, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 24, 2017 This is nice pre 1908, made by Ames Sword Co., Chicopee MA and retailed by Hirsch. The blade has the Ames type II blade etching pattern found on the later Springfield M1902's. These are a more robust version of the 02; note the heavy branches on the nickle alloy hilt. The thin/weak Lilley/Springfield type are often found bent. The condition can be improved and hilt can be easily disassembled for cleaning.
