USMCman01 Posted February 20, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 20, 2017 This is known as a depot stamp, indicating it was manufactured at the Philadelphia depot. Never seen one of these on a seabag. I believe it stands for Department, Quartermaster, Philadelphia. 40-41 is a a fiscal year for sometime in 1940-1941.
Montana40 Posted February 20, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted February 20, 2017 That's great, thanks. So the marking must be DQP not DOP.

Montana40 Posted February 21, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted February 21, 2017 Thanks again. The Sea bag with the DQP stamp is named to a Marine who joined in April 1942 and was with the First Recruit Battalion in San Diego. He was 37 years old when he enlisted and I am assuming that the sea bag was part of his initial issue at that time. Possibly because of his age or specialty, he never left the states. Regardless of the situation he was discharged in late 1944. As a result most all of his issue items were never used. The sea bag is in near mint condition. 'Flage Guy Posted February 21, 2017 Share #6 Posted February 21, 2017 First time I've ever seen a Seabag with the stamp still intact. You really scored!!
