Phrobis CUK project

Hi guys! Got my hands on a NOS Phrobis CUK blade. I'm not really wanting to just buy the handle/guard/pommel & assemble a knife but go a more custom route & build a modern version of the jet pilot knife with it with a stainless hex pommel & stacked leather handle. Doing some research, I see these were prone to breaking back in the day at the point where the extension threaded on, so am planning on making this a full tang knife by welding some steel in to reinforce the weak area. Pictured is the new blade next to a JPK & a piece of 3/4" stainless hex stock I had laying around. Have some 1" that I'll be using, just couldn't locate it today. Anyone have any ideas or see any flaws in the plan?

Cool project....50 years from now some collector will be trying to figure out what the hell this is.....LOL

I have alot of things that will fall into that category! I could really monkey up the works & type out some crazy story to put with it. kinda along the lines of what we see now on ebay with certain things.

finally got around to cutting the guard & turning the pommel on the lathe. The guard is 316 stainless & the pommel 304. Figured since many knives seem to rust right at the blade/guard intersection, the higher corrosion resistance of 316 would help on the guard.
