Unknown Grenade. GI?

To me this feels fatter than a GI grenade and the fuze is different. There is no spoon.

 

If anyone can ID the grenade I would appreciate it.

It is my understanding that this style was indeed used by the AEF. I do not know if the French continued this pattern after WW1 however.

 

I have a complete grenade of this type that is only marked with the capital letter "I". In all other respects it looks like yours.

A french Farmer handed me one of these straight from his field in the Somme near Perronne back in 2014.

 

Realizing it was still live I thanked him and reburied it nearby. Nice find and definitely used by the AEF along with Mills bombs
