Found this the other day...the stitching, vertical and horizontal, caught my eye...my nylon covers are vertical only...and it had the water tablets still in the pocket...so....

came with cover and tablets only...I put in a metal cup and canteen

kinda hoping it is an early cover versus a clone

Probably even earlier than mid -1970's. My guess, it is part of the M1967 kit introduced late in the Vietnam war. Sgt Monoe provides exhaustive details on this Forum complete with orginal governent contract information where available.

I was thinking earlier too, but looks like 75......due to the horizontal stitching...

horizontal stitching might line up with the cup...a reinforcement...?

Are the insides of the flaps (where the snaps are) very thin? Or are they more rigid? The late 60's-very early 70's had these with just a single layer of nylon, prior to being reinforced in the mid 70's. Looks like it's a 74 or 75 that's just very washed out to me.
