This unique piece comes courtesy of a fellow forum member. Named to H.D. Granowski who served with the 13th Air Force, I am planning on displaying this piece next month so any info on his career and his awards would be greatly appreciated. I am planning on restoring the ribbon rack using period ribbons for the display. The New Zealand Wireless Air Gunner wings and Navigator wings are beautiful together and the bullion on the navigator wings are impeccable. The bullion on the 13th Air Force patch is amazing as well.

my dad was in the 13th aaf. I have a book titled Palm tree, history of the 13th aaf. it is available on line. lots of pictures and names of service men. It,s expensive, but an invaluable resource. My dad, james downs is pictured and mentioned on numerous pages. I think you would enjoy it, best wishes, jim downs

Looks like This is a bullion enhanced u.s. made fully embroidered patch, meaning it stated life as this one.n Can we see close ups of it as well as the rear of it?

@Airman86- Don't be thrown off that Granowski may have flown in the MTO. Many bomber crewman, pilots included, served two tours, one against the Germans and a later one against the Japanese. Tibbets comes to mind right.

And there this guy, who was talked about in a couple of insignia forums.

I looked at the patch today, and you're right. It's a stock patch that has been bullion stitched over. Something else if more is that there is a separate patch on the back with what looks like a religious Christian flaming heart. I will post pics when I get a chance.

Thank you all for the positive comments! It will be a great research project for sure and I'm chomping at the bit to get started.

I hope you request his records, I can't find very much online about him. He was apparently born in Russia in 1919.
