doughboy Posted February 11, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2017 Hi, I just want to ask for your opinion on this M1917 Trench Knife scabbard - the leather part is stamped LF&C and there is only one marking on the top of the scabbard. Is this a good one or a repro ? Thank you in advance for your help. doughboy
tarheeltim Posted February 11, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2017 Looks too fresh to me to be 100 years old. These scabbards were typically marked Jewell 1918. My vote is repro.
John762 Posted February 11, 2017 Share #3 Posted February 11, 2017 Looks too fresh to me to be 100 years old. These scabbards were typically marked Jewell 1918. My vote is repro. I'm far from an expert but I agree with Tim.

SKIPH Posted February 11, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 11, 2017 Repro, as Tim said, "Jewell 1918" were on original scabbards. Decent looking though. Suspect it was made by "Windless" what ever the name is, in India. Atlanta cutlery offers an M1917 w/ this scabbard. SKIP
SKIPH Posted February 11, 2017 Share #6 Posted February 11, 2017 Help me out gang! I have lost the margins on the reply. All I get is one continuous sentence, until I hit "post". How do I fix. THX SKIP
Ronnie Posted February 11, 2017 Share #7 Posted February 11, 2017 I've had that problem too Skip. It usually fixes itself. Maybe turn the computer off for a few minutes then re start it. Sorry but I'm not very technical. Ronnie
SKIPH Posted February 11, 2017 Share #8 Posted February 11, 2017 Thanks Ronnie! John762 helped me fix it. I just had to click that top left box in the above gray area. That's all it took. I honestly do not know what any of those icons even mean, or symbolize. Thanks Again John762! SKIP
V42 Posted February 12, 2017 Share #9 Posted February 12, 2017 Nice but it is a repo.
Irish Rob Posted February 12, 2017 Share #10 Posted February 12, 2017 This first stamp: WPG = What Price Glory. Legit repro seller for the re-enactor crowd.
Dr_rambow Posted February 13, 2017 Share #11 Posted February 13, 2017 The marking in post WBC; I don't think What Price Glory makes the trench knife scabbards.
