McDermut99 Posted February 11, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2017 This came with a large lot of other insignia. It is the unit insignia of the 14th Ordnance Battalion, who's motto was "Promptus Ad Certamen". It does have surface corrosion on the back which is consistent with being made of brass. It is marked on the back: DOMMER'S STUTTGART GERMANY I believe this DUI to have been made post-WWII, but that is just an educated guess. Any further comments about this pin are greatly appreciated. tredhed2 Posted February 11, 2017 Share #3 Posted February 11, 2017 ALL GM and JM insignia is post war. This is c. 1950 due to it being CB.
McDermut99 Posted February 11, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted February 11, 2017 Ah, now I understand. Thanks tredhed! Does this one have any value to it?
MBS Posted February 11, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 11, 2017 Not too much, they are a fairly common DI. The verdigris may hurt the value a little. Price is a subjective issue but a collector might expect to pay somewhere around $5.00 to $8.00 for it. Although, they may hold out for a cleaner example. Reforger Posted February 13, 2017 Share #6 Posted February 13, 2017 Dommer hallmark is not that common, first one of these I've seen with that hallmark.
denfly Posted July 22, 2018 Share #7 Posted July 22, 2018 There is one of these at an auction site with the wheel to the right and the artillery piece on the left. Could that make it a rare DUI? It is also listed as the 38th ordnance battalion while doing research.
denfly Posted July 23, 2018 Share #8 Posted July 23, 2018 According to ASMIC, if the artillery piece is on the left, it is the 14th Ord. Bn. On the right, it's the 38th Ord. Bn. Special thanks to woodenc for pointing that out.
