Blacksmith Posted February 10, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 10, 2017 Prolific and awesome photos - two of my favorites. The first photo is of Marine Private Rez Hester and Butch, on Iwo. The second is of the 1st War Dog Platoon on Bougainville.
Pops369 Posted February 10, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted February 10, 2017 Thanks for letting me know the history on them. They are great pictures. They came with about about two dozen numbered pictures. Were these sets that were sold at some point and time?

Bob Hudson Posted August 20, 2020 Share #6 Posted August 20, 2020 Picked up a batch of 8 x 10 Iwo Jima photos including Hester and Butch . What I love about these large prints made from vintage negatives is that you can scan them at very high resolutions and bring out detail that's just not possible to enlarge with halftone images such as used in books. There's also more details in these photos than pretty much any motion picture film shot in combat. I scanned the closeup at 600 dpi and the whole photo at 300 dpi. Is that Butch's canteen?
