Backtheattack Posted February 7, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 7, 2017 Found this picture in an old scrapbook of my father, he switched from the german border police in 1956 to the new build german army. This picture was taken at Grafenwöhr where they receive former american tanks. Need help with this aircraft.
Tonomachi Posted February 7, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 7, 2017 Looks like a U-6A Beaver but the side windows are different from the illustration below.

Vahe Demirjian Posted February 23 Share #6 Posted February 23 The Beaver and Otter were both similar in configuration but the Otter was a larger aircraft. It's also interesting to note that the Otter was the first aircraft to be given a U-for-Utility designation and that the Beaver was initially designated C-127 when it was ordered by the US Army and US Air Force but was later redesignated L-20 before having its designation changed to U-6 under the 1962 Tri-Service designation system (the C-127 designation was later re-used as the initial designation for the YC-124B turboprop version of the C-124 Globemaster II, but that's another story).
