Bearmon Posted February 7, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 7, 2017 I only have a few of these I have seen others so here is a place to post them all. These are some of the most expressive Department specific patches to me. First up a large (7.5 inches) back patch from the USS America 1976 Med cruise, looks hand made to me. (this might not be a Weps division specific patch but the Mushroom cloud fits the in the topic)

Brian Keith Posted February 7, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 7, 2017 Those are cool looking patches. In the "politically correct" world, a mushroom cloud is probably a "no-no". Were these made to wear on a tour jacket? Were these actually something officially authorized? Thanks for posting them. BKW

Bearmon Posted February 7, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted February 7, 2017 They were worn on Deck Jackets and off duty on Cruise jackets or other Civilian attire., The America and the Independence were both sewn onto something before.
