What battle is this?! USMC M1928 Haversacks in use?

So this is a very interesting photo... It shows what im assuming to be Marines during the Guadalcanal campaign, wearing netted M1917a1s (as well as M1s) and M1928 haversacks. Thought this was very interesting since M1928s were rarely used by the marines. Thoughts? Could they be Army?

Nets, I found this net in the bottom of bag of WWII Navy stuff I purchased for some ordnance items. I posted it elsewhere and it was decided it was a water jug net. And it most likely is. However, when I put it on a M1917 helmet it does look similar (sort of). I know close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. Interesting picture of mixed uniforms by the OP none the less.
