beezman Posted October 9, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 9, 2008 Hi all, I have found these Lt Junior Grade clutchback ranks in a lot I recently purchased. They seem to be Vietnam era Navy issue, from the info on the card. These ranks are longer than the Army version, and are slightly rounded. I though the Navy only used smaller size ranks, and always in the straight version. Does anybody know these ranks, and where they were worn? Thanks! Jason G Posted October 9, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 9, 2008 They *could* have been USMC, for wear on the service Alpha coat and Dress blues coat. Even though they are marked Navy, I can't recall ever seeing a naval officer wearing that type, since the only place you can wear em is on the epaullete I'd think. Jason G Posted October 9, 2008 Share #4 Posted October 9, 2008 Ya know, I forgot about those jackets. That would make sense as well.
KurtA Posted October 9, 2008 Share #5 Posted October 9, 2008 USN officers also wore the large size rank on the long black rain coat. Kurt

tafh63 Posted February 17, 2018 Share #7 Posted February 17, 2018 Yes. These are insignia for outer garments like those shown. My father, a retired naval officer, wore this size on black raincoat and khaki jacket (not service dress jacket). The smaller insignia went on the collars.
