It's a Martin PBM Mariner, first used by the Navy (and later the Coast Guard) in 1940. It was a competitor of the Consolidated PBY Catalina. Anti submarine patrol and search and rescue. About 1,360 were built, mostly at the Glenn L. Martin plant, Middle River, Maryland, just north of Baltimore. They were used as first line aircraft through the Korean War up until 1956.
