gap Posted January 31, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted January 31, 2017 Looks like a repair was made near four fingers using a white cheesecloth. It is done very professionally. Strange, why go to that trouble to fix a .25 cent patch?

doyler Posted January 31, 2017 Share #9 Posted January 31, 2017 Thatsdifferent. Hard to say but possibly it was torn or damaged at the manufacturer when made. Then repaired
CUBUSMC Posted January 31, 2017 Share #10 Posted January 31, 2017 That or it was just missing a section of thread. Interesting, I have not seen a lot of WWII shoulder patches that have been repaired like this. However, It is very common to see 1960's to 1970's squadron patches repaired like this, where they are missing some thread due to the spool or bobbin running out of thread. BILL THE PATCH Posted January 31, 2017 Share #11 Posted January 31, 2017 There might have been more than one patch damaged in this particular batch, I can't see repairing just one, 100 yes, and even more. Maybe the machine screwed up. I bet there's more out there, but out of thousands of patch's being made during the war probably no one ever found another like it.
