Reforger Posted January 25, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2017 Here's a little group I've had for a while. I really like it. According to his obituary, Roger Carl Sturtevant served in the US Army in Fort Knox and Austria. The 3rd Armored Division and Austrian Tactical Command patches confirm that. He must have joined the Army around 1952, as that is the Tetanus shot date on the dog tags. While his obituary doesn't mention service in Korea, I assume he did. First of all the time frame is right, second the group includes two South Korean made rank insignia and third, there is a 224th Infantry Regiment unit insignia. This unit participated in the Korean War. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything on him being in Korea or possibly fighting there. Anyway, here's the group. FlyingTigers03 Posted February 5, 2017 Share #3 Posted February 5, 2017 The 3rd AD was stationed in Germany in 1952, but you have a unit crest of a unit that was in Korea?
Reforger Posted February 5, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted February 5, 2017 According to his obituary, he was stationed in Fort Knox and wikipedia says the 3rd AD was there from 1947 to 1955. So that time frame matches. The crest ist from the 224th Inf., and they served in the Korean War.
