AirMechanic Posted January 23, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 23, 2017 I recently acquired this neat WWII 8th Air Force lucite sweetheart pin, which is marked "Mother". Has anyone seen lucite 8th Air Force sweetheart pins like these before? Is this a theater made item, or perhaps even a piece of trench art, as I just don't get the feeling that this was a mass produced piece of American made sweetheart jewelry. Any help is appreciated! doyler Posted January 23, 2017 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2017 Thats really a nice one Very possible its a "one off" made by the individual or someone on base.Appears they too a 1st Lt. rank bar and engraved it then set it in the materails. Possibley also done by a local english artisan on a small basis so many may not exist.Really hard to pin some of these items down.
Brian Keith Posted January 24, 2017 Share #5 Posted January 24, 2017 That is a really nice piece. I would call it "trench-art"! Is it a Lt. insignia? It was quite common to make things from plexy from the aircraft windows. Nicely done and very attractive. Thanks for posting it! BKW
