I was offered this at a local gun show last year, bought it on impulse. It only had orange monograph #5 pamphlet.

I have not been able to find anything out about serial numbers, so any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Is that a serial number or a model number? I seem to recall seeing a quantity of similar knives all with the same number stamped on the guard?

Thanks for your responses. The items I am posting are in my personal collection, so not looking for info for resale purposes.

I am confused. This has typically been referenced as model LC-14-B in their literature. (My #5 monograph booklet on care and use is printed Feb-44, 7th edition.) I searched for the name , model, and "281" online and got nothing.

Is there a reference somewhere showing this information?

281 was the commercial designation used by Victor Tool. LC-14-B was the military designation.

OK, that explains my confusion. Here is the pamphlet it came with.

I also found a stamp on the blade "280". Seems like this was maybe cobbled together with what they had on hand.
