Geo3310 Posted January 16, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 16, 2017 I have two large photos of various Generals, Colonels (light and full) and other military personnel. Any help in identifying these individuals would be greatly appreciated. 1st Picture: Major General and additional personnel observing a field test or exercise scenario. Dated 30 July 1970. 2nd Picture: Looks as if 2 of the 3 are Corps of Engineers officers. Colonel Barnes, Colonel Irwin, Lt. Colonel Duncan

Geo3310 Posted January 22, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted January 22, 2017 I will try to get a better shot of the tags/markings. I agree, a whole different era! I imagine the General is enjoying some whiskey while swingin' that swagger stick...

patches Posted January 23, 2017 Share #8 Posted January 23, 2017 Found two Col Barnes' Corps of Engineer, Colonel Joseph P. "Phil" Barnes, and a Colonel William L. Barnes. And I do believe William L. is your man. William L in his younger years looks like the Col here. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/name/william-barnes-obituary?pid=1000000178258520 35th Engineer Group RVNColonel William F. patches Posted January 23, 2017 Share #9 Posted January 23, 2017 Very confusing with the other two, totally stumped on Irwin. The Duncan, is probably one Jack L. Duncan, maybe, found sparse info on a Lt Col Jack L. Duncan.....but according to what I found, this Duncan, Jack L was also an Aviator, and Duncan in photo wears no Aviator badge. http://memory.loc.gov/diglib/vhp/bib/loc.natlib.afc2001001.19504
Geo3310 Posted January 23, 2017 Author Share #10 Posted January 23, 2017 That's amazing. Thanks patches! Looks like a pretty serious individual. I have uploaded a couple of close ups of the vehicles...not sure how easy it will be to decipher. I also got a couple of closer pics of the "group" photo. I appreciate all your help. patches Posted January 23, 2017 Share #12 Posted January 23, 2017 Found a few Brittons, this from Jan 1969, here he may of still been a Major. too bad we can't see his branch. Combat patches would of helped a bit, but as we see none are wearing them. https://archive.org/stream/officialarmyregi19691unit#page/46/mode/2up

Geo3310 Posted January 25, 2017 Author Share #14 Posted January 25, 2017 Thanks. I figured it would be hard to id anyone in the pic.... I feel it tells a story even though we don't know the individuals present. I have attached a couple more pictures for your enjoyment. I believe the first one was in Normandy.
