digi-shots Posted January 14, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2017 Wondered if I could get some info on this cap... What time frame were these "gray" hats & uniforms used and is this larger CPO insignia correct? I think I read that the larger size that is usually used on the visor hat was also approved for a short time on the overseas cap. Also, for WWII time frame, which direction should the gray fabric "crow" on a rating patch face? Thanks for the help!
Justin B. Posted January 14, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2017 Gray garrison caps authorized from mid-1943 through '48. The full size cap device was indeed used until a miniature version was authorized in March 1944. Gray rating badges were the same as any other: The eagle faces its left for seaman branch (worn on the right sleeve) and right for the rest.
